North County San Diego is generally known as the more affluent area for families to settle down...read up about some of the differences between

North County Coastal - Del Mar, Solana Beach, Encinitas, Carlsbad, Oceanside

The North County Coastal area of San Diego's features some of SD's top attractions, including LEGOLAND, the Flower Fields at Carlsbad, Botanic Garden, and the Del Mar Fairgrounds (which hosts the Del Mar Fair in summer, followed by the Del Mar Horse Racing season). This region is also a paradise for surfers with over 20 miles of coast to choose from as well as a large golf destination, with over 40 diverse courses to choose from. 

The coastal homes from Del-Mar to Carlsbad average over $1,000,000 with some perched atop the ocean bluffs. The area has highly rated school districts that increase the area's value. 

Oceanside is not considered as affluent as the other neighborhoods but has had one of the greatest appreciation rates over the last several years in all of San Diego County. 

North County Inland - Escondido, Vista, San Marcos, Rancho Bernardo, Poway, Rancho Santa Fe

Gorgeous rolling hills and avacado orchards line the winding roads in San Diego's North County Inland area. There are also plenty of hiking, biking, and climbing options with Palomar Mountain being a top outdoors destination. You can spend a weekend touring the local wineries, craft breweries, or meaderies throughout North County. The San Diego Safari Park in Escondido is another large tourist draw featuring African and Asian animals.

The homes in MOST of these neighborhoods tend to be slightly more affordable with larger lot sizes, privacy, and views. Rancho Santa Fe being the exception where homes consistently average over 2.5 million (and recently hover around 4 million).
